IP Address

IP Address

An Internet Protocol address is a tag attached to every device that performs networking operations on the World Wide Web (ex. computers, printers). IP addresses are represented as numerical labels, and each device on a computer network is assigned a unique IP address. IP addresses have two primary functionalities: to provide a location address and to provide the host or network with identification. IP addresses are assigned and managed by the Internet Assigned Number Authority. IP addresses can be either dynamic or static. Static addresses are manually assigned to a computer, while a dynamic address is typically assigned to local area or broadband networks.
