Cookie

Cookies go by several different names, including HTTP cookies, web cookies, and browser cookies. Cookies allow for an information exchange between a website and a user's browser. The website initially sends information to the user's browser and then the browser returns information to the website. This information can be authentication information, identification information, user preference information, or virtually any sort of information that can be stored via text data. There are several types of cookies that denote the amount of time or the manner in which they will be stored. Session cookies and persistent coolies indicates when a cookie will expire, whereas secure cookies, HttpOnly cookies, and third-party cookies indicate how cookies will be stored and interact with browsers. Cookies are not software and they cannot be programmed or carry viruses.
