Attribute

Attribute

Attributes are options that you can set for your VoiceXML tag. There is a specific set of attributes for each VoiceXML tag. Some attributes allow you to set a maxage or maxstale value for your VoiceXML tag for caching purposes. Other attributes allow you to set the scope or a specific mode for your VoiceXML tag.

One example of a VoiceXML tag that has all of these attributes is the <grammar/> tag. For example, if you were to go to our VXML documentation site, you would notice that the <grammar/> tag has the following attributes: fetchhint, fetchtimeout, maxage, maxstale, scope, src, srcexpr, type, xml:base, tag-format, version, xml:lang, root, mode, weight, and maxdigits. With the majority of the attributes that our platform supports, the programmer is able to achieve tighter control over what they want to do with the <grammar/> tag.

To look up the attributes for a specific VoiceXML tag, you can first go to our VXML documentation site and then look up a specific tag. Once you've selected the tag, you'll be able to see the attributes that are listed for the VoiceXML tag.
