Hosted Environment

Hosted Environment

Hosted environment, as it relates to Interactive Voice Response (IVR) services, is a facility or data center where a third-party has established technical infrastructure to run its IVR systems. Technical infrastructure in a hosted IVR environment typically consists of a multitude of server hardware, networking equipment, telecommunications gateways and specialized software to process and automate phone calls. Most hosted environments include redundant hardware and software systems that connect to multiple telecommunications carrier networks. In addition, most IVR service providers maintain several hosted environments for physical redundancy and disaster recovery failover.
