TTS

TTS is the acronym for text-to-speech; it is a speech synthesis feature of VoiceXML applications that converts human speech into artificial language. A text-to-speech engine converts normal language text into speech. Synthesized speech can be created by concatenating pieces of recorded speech that are stored in a database. There are several attributes typically included in TTS engines: specifies the gender of the artificial engine, allows the user to specify the age of the voice featured on the engine, specifies the dialect of the selected TTS engine, and specifies the language in which the TTS engine will operate. There are a myriad of other elements that can operate on Plum Voice’s AT&T Natural Voice, Cepstral, and RealSpeak TTS engines in addition to those listed above.
