Call Transfer

In telecommunications, call transferring is a technology that allows a party to transfer an ongoing call along to an attendant, extension, IVR system, or a message recording service. Phone sets are typically equipped with a specific button that enables users to pass along calls from one location to another seamlessly and without disrupting the call. In order to complete a call transfer, one party is typically put on hold while the other party dials the intended call recipient or extension. After contact is made with either a person or a machine, the call can be officially transferred over to them and the third party can then terminate the call. Blind or unsupervised transfers happen when the party receiving the transferred call is uninformed of the call before they field it.
