Input refers to a point in a device, process, or channel that accepts data communications exchanged between information processing systems and the outside world. Inputs are data signals that are received by the system, typically from another system, that are used to communicate with a computer. An input inserted in to a system will either activate or modify a currently occurring process. The concept of input can be attached to many process and systems, including an input field, an input variable, an input parameter, and an input value. The term input indicates that external data will be submitted via an outside system that will be received and processed in order to create, modify, or alter a new or ongoing process.
