Web Services

In a VoiceXML application, a web service enables machine to machine interactions over a network through the use of software systems. The interface of a web survey is coded in a web services description language (WSDL) that machines can process. Other systems on the network interact with the web service by interpreting its function via its SOAP messages. These messages are typically conveyed using some form of HTTP and XML (VoiceXML in IVR applications). Most web services include machine-readable descriptions of operations that are performable by the service and coded in a WSDL. The three most commonly utilized web services are RPC (remote procedure call), SOA (service-oriented architecture), and REST (representational state transfer).
