Network architecture is the design of a communications network. This includes the physical configuration, functional organization, operational procedures, and data formats that are used to design, configure, and operate a network. Network architecture dictates how a network will be built, what will be used to build it, how it will operate, and what coding languages it will use for processing and operation. Network architecture in telecommunications often times includes descriptions of products and services that can be delivered by a communications network. There are seven layers included in network architecture that includes a physical layer, a data-linking layer, a network layer, a transport layer, a session layer, a presentation layer, and an application layer.
