IP-PBX

An Internet Protocol Private Branch Exchange is a telephone system that is designed to simultaneously deliver voice or video over a data network while operating with the public switched telephone network (PSTN). VoIP gateways can be combined with traditional private branch exchange functionalities in order to combine features on a single network, which allows for the transmission of voice or data. An IP-PBX can be either hardware or software, presenting itself as either an object or a system. Users can add various types of functionality including IVR, text to speech, and speech recognition. If connected to the PSTN, the IP-PBX will have the capability to support both digital and analogue circuits, VoIP protocols like SIP, and others.
